Huawei P50 Pro: retrofit 5G with a case

Although Huawei brings new smartphones onto the market, a crucial feature is missing. The cell phones are only equipped with a 4G modem. Qualcomm has even built brand new processors in its own version that Huawei is allowed to use. With the Huawei P50 Pro, you don’t have to be satisfied with that. The company Soyealink has simply built a shell with which you can retrofit 5G:

The principle is quite simple. Soyealink’s 5G case is Equipped with a USB-C port, which plugs into the bottom of the Huawei P50 Pro (Source: Soyealink). After that, it will be recognized as an accessory that can be configured via the smartphone. A 5G module with eSIM is integrated in the case, which can establish a connection to the 5G network. The energy comes from the smartphone as if a 5G modem were installed. Visually not a bad solution at all, because many people have a case around their smartphone anyway.

What also stands out positively: The 5G case does not have to be removed to charge the smartphone. There is a USB-C port on the underside of the case, which can be used to charge the smartphone as normal.

How much does a 5G case cost?

Soyealink’s 5G case will soon be on sale in China at a price of around 110 euros. The manufacturer wants to support other Huawei models if there is a lot of interest in this accessory – reports SparrowNews. It cannot be assumed that the shell will come to Germany. In China, however, it could make Huawei smartphones more interesting again. There, people are now more likely to buy Honor phones, which are offered without restrictions.
