TO REMEMBER
The little Mermaid did it cause a sensation for its first weekend? With a start at $95.5 million according to the first estimates of Box-office Mojo, we can say that it is a successful launch, taking full advantage of this long weekend in the United States. It is certainly lower than the launch of Top Gun Maverick a year ago, but certainly the public is there for this new live version of The Little Mermaid.
To compare, FastX, released last week, earned $67 million (in the US alone) in its first opening weekend. For this four-day weekend, the film is positioned on the second step of the podium after The Little Mermaid, with an additional $23 million.
The action flick is expected to cross the $500 million mark at the international box office this weekend as well, the third-highest-grossing of the year worldwide.
Finally, on the third step of the podium, we find Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The film garners an additional $19.9 million, a total of almost $300 million (precisely $299,425,817).
