Weekend without much success at the American box office. The Nun 2 remains in the lead for the 2nd consecutive weekend, with $14.7 million according to initial estimates. Mystery in Venice, The New Adventures of Hercule Poirot by Kenneth Branagh, is just behind, with $14.5 million. The two films are neck and neck.
This is a mixed start for the franchise, which one could have imagined in mind. “Half as much as Crime on the Orient-Express in 2017 ($28.6 million), but 12% more than Death on the Nile ($12.8 million), released however during a difficult period, in February 2022, just after the pandemic.
It is the same on a global scale, with a total of $37.2 million compared to $33.5 million for the 2022 film. And of the $22.7 million collected in five days abroad, the France ranks 5th with $1.7 million“, indicate our colleagues from Boxoffice Pro.
On the 3rd step of the podium, Equalizer 3 with Denzel Washington is holding up and now totals $73.6 million. Its accumulation remains slightly below that of the two previous parts at this stage.
Few changes in the rest of the ranking, within which we find the successes of the summer (barbie (5th), Oppenheimer (9th)…) and more recent entries, like Greek Wedding 3, or the Bollywood film which created a surprise, Jawan (6th).
