WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. and European civil aviation regulators have planned to hold a meeting with Boeing next week over its 777X, which is awaiting certification, the agency’s director said on Tuesday. European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA).

In April, Boeing announced that it was suspending production of this aircraft until 2023, confirming that it was postponing the first deliveries of the model to 2025, against a target of the end of the year 2023.

Speaking to reporters in Washington on the sidelines of an event, the EASA director said the planned meeting with the US aircraft manufacturer was “very important” to share information.

“We just need to agree on common principles on how to achieve the security objectives that we have, and we need to understand each other,” said Patrick Ky, adding that the parties also need to agree on the timetable and on “ who does what”.

No comment was immediately obtained from the US regulator and Boeing.
