Charles Leclerc is at the top of his game in qualifying for the USA GP in Austin. Max Verstappen is beaten for once.

Charles Leclerc secured his 21st pole position in Formula 1 and the third this season at the US GP in Austin, Texas. Starting behind the Ferrari driver are Lando Norris in the McLaren and Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz follows in fourth place.

Max Verstappen in the Red Bull was 5 thousandths faster than Leclerc on his last lap, but exceeded the track limit, which is why the time was canceled. The Dutchman, who already has his third world title in his pocket, remains in sixth place on the grid. Verstappen, who has triumphed in Austin in the last two years, is aiming for his 50th career victory in the motorsport “premier class”.

Alfa Romeo drivers out in Q2

The Alfa Romeo drivers will start the race on Sunday from positions 12 (Guanyu Zhou) and 13 (Valtteri Bottas). On Saturday evening the drivers will first compete in the 5th sprint race of the season.
