US maneuvers in Armenia will end “as planned” on Wednesday

September 20 (Reuters) – The American army will end this Wednesday as planned its joint maneuvers with the Armenian army in Armenia, which were not affected by the vast military operation launched by Azerbaijan in the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, a US military spokesperson said.

According to the latter, the program of these 10 days of military exercises involving 85 American soldiers and 175 Armenians was not modified despite the launch on Tuesday of what Azerbaijan described as a vast “anti-terrorist” operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, enclave internationally recognized as an integral part of its territory but populated mainly by Armenians.

“We knew that they were carrying out operations but we did not assess that there was the slightest risk for our soldiers and they therefore stayed for the duration of the maneuvers,” said the army spokesperson.
