According to media reports, at least 22 people were killed and over 50 injured in a shooting in the city of Lewiston in the US state of Maine, as reported by the US broadcaster NBC News, citing several police authorities.

Lewiston City Police said emergency crews responded to gun attacks at multiple locations. It was said that the suspect had not yet been caught. Police asked for the public’s help in identifying the suspect and posted photos on Facebook of a bearded man in a shirt and jeans holding a rifle in a firing position. Residents were urged to seek safety and stay in their homes.
The local newspaper “Sun Journal,” also citing the police, reported three crime scenes: a bowling center, a restaurant and a Walmart distribution center.
