Official guardian for Mrs Mavis, who suffers from dementia

Jay Leno officially gains guardianship of his wife Mavis, who suffers from dementia. A court decided this on Tuesday.
Jay Leno (73) has now officially been given guardianship of his wife Mavis Leno (77), who suffers from dementia. This was decided by a court in Los Angeles, where the US talk show legend filed an application at the end of January. This is reported by “People” magazine, which was on site at the hearing on Tuesday (April 9).
Accordingly, Mavis Leno’s lawyer explained that those involved “agreed” on this and that Jay Leno was providing “excellent care” to his wife. The judge agreed, saying, “I think she’s in the least restrictive environment. I think she’s in very good hands with Mr. Leno.”
“Difficult time” for Jay Leno
Addressing the US comedian, the judge also noted that he was doing everything right and that he “fully” understood “that this is a difficult time.” Jay Leno, who became one of the most famous talk show hosts in the USA with his “The Tonight Show”, also stated in court that he was already taking care of his wife’s estate, all assets, community property and will.
Jay and Mavis Leno have been married for more than 40 years. The couple met in the 1970s. In 1980 they said yes. In January, documents said which “USA Today” presented, that Mavis has been “increasingly losing capacity and orientation in relation to space and time for several years.” Her doctor explained that she suffered from “dementia, a severe neurocognitive disorder.”
Jay Leno has also had repeated health problems in recent years. In November 2022, he suffered severe burns to his hands, face and chest when a fire broke out while working on one of his classic cars. He then underwent two procedures. Just a few months later, in January 2023, he was injured in a motorcycle accident. Jay Leno broke several bones.
