USA: Activity in services returns to growth in January


Feb 3 (Reuters) – U.S. service sector activity returned to growth in January, with a sharp rise in new orders, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) monthly survey released on Friday showed .

The ISM services index rose to 55.2 from 49.6 the previous month. Economists polled by Reuters on average expected a figure of 50.4.

The new orders sub-index jumped to 60.4 from 45.2 a month earlier and that of prices, on the other hand, fell slightly, to 67.8 from 68.1.
