USA: Crude oil and gasoline inventories decline

Crude oil stocks fell last week in the United States, as did gasoline reserves, the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) announced on Wednesday.

Crude inventories contracted by 3.3 million barrels during the week of August 26 to stand at 418.3 million barrels.

Gasoline stocks, for their part, fell by 1.2 million barrels, while reserves of distillates, which include heating oil in particular, increased by barely 100,000 barrels.

The refinery capacity utilization rate fell to 92.7% from 93.8% the previous week.

The price of American light crude (West Texas Intermediate, WTI) limited its decline following these statistics to yield 1.1% against 90.6 dollars per barrel, while it was moving below the 90 dollar mark before these figures.
