USA: crude oil inventories rebound

(CercleFinance.com) – US crude oil inventories rose last week, as did those of gasoline and distillates, data released Thursday by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) showed.

After three weeks of decline, crude reserves rebounded by some 8.8 million barrels to 427.2 million in the week of September 2, according to these official figures.

Gasoline stocks increased by around 400,000 barrels last week, while reserves of distillates, including heating oil, rose by around 100,000 barrels.

The capacity utilization rate of refineries, on the other hand, fell to 90.9% against 92.7% the previous week.

The price of American light crude (West Texas Intermediate, WTI) limited its decline following the publication of these statistics to only progress by 0.8% to 82.7 dollars a barrel.
