USA: decline in weekly unemployment claims


(CercleFinance.com) – The Department of Labor announces having recorded 222,000 new registrations for unemployment benefits in the United States during the week of May 6, a figure down 10,000 compared to the previous week, the level of which was revised upwards, from 231,000 to 232,000.

The four-week moving average – more representative of the underlying trend – stood at 217,750, an anecdotal increase of 2,500 compared to the previous week.

Finally, the number of people regularly receiving compensation increased by 13,000 to stand at 1,794,000 during the week of April 29, the most recent period available for this statistic.
