USA-Elon Musk “leans” for a Republican presidential candidate

WASHINGTON, June 15 (Reuters) – Elon Musk said on Wednesday he could support Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ bid for the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

The billionaire CEO of Tesla also said he voted Republican for the first time in a by-election in Texas this week and predicted a “massive red wave” in the Congressional midterm elections next November, in reference the color of the Republican Party.

On Twitter on Wednesday, Elon Musk replied “DeSantis” to the question of who he “leans” for the presidential election of 2024.

Ron DeSantis poses as a competitor to Donald Trump for the nomination of the Republican candidate in two years. As governor, he notably distinguished himself by his rejection of the restrictions put in place to fight the COVID-19 pandemic or the adoption of a law limiting debates on gender issues in schools.

Elon Musk also revealed on Twitter that he voted for Republican Mayra Flores on Tuesday in a by-election for the House of Representatives in a South Texas constituency.

“I voted for Mayra Flores – the first time I voted Republican,” he said. “Massive red wave in 2022,” he added. (Report Heather Timmons; French version Jean-Stphane Brosse)
