USA-Florida asks its inhabitants to prepare for the arrival of the storm Ian

WASHINGTON, Sept 24 (Reuters) – Authorities in the state of Florida in the United States have called on residents of coastal regions to prepare for the arrival of the potentially dangerous Storm Ian, but no evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Friday declared a state of emergency for 24 counties in the path of Storm Ian, saying the storm had “the potential to strengthen into a major hurricane” in the coming days.

The storm could begin hitting South Florida late Monday or Tuesday morning.

It should first affect Jamaica, Cuba and the Camans, according to the US hurricane monitoring center. (Report Diane Bartz, French version Matthieu Protard)
