WASHINGTON, Dec.22 (Reuters) – Growth in the U.S. economy slowed sharply in the third quarter amid the COVID-19 pandemic, final gross domestic product (GDP) statistics released by the Commerce Department confirmed on Wednesday.
The GDP of the United States grew by 2.3% at an annualized rate compared to the previous three months, a figure revised upwards compared to the previous estimate which was 2.1%.
Economists polled by Reuters forecast an average figure of 2.1% after growth of 6.7% in the second quarter, still at an annualized rate.
