USA: Growth slows down a little in services (ISM)


(CercleFinance.com) – Growth in service sector activity in the United States slowed a little more sharply than expected in February, show the results of the monthly survey from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). ).

The ISM services index returned to 52.6 last month, compared to 53.4 in January, while economists expected it to be around 53.

It nevertheless shows an increase for the 44th month out of 45, that is to say above the threshold of 50 points which indicates growth in the sector, the last contraction dating back to December 2022.

The activity subindex, which measures production, improved to 57.2 from 55.8 in January, while that of new orders rose to 56.1 from 55 the previous month.

That of employment, on the other hand, was down, at 48 after 50.5, just like the ISM index of prices paid which fell to 58.6 against 64 in January.
