USA: Historic low for the Michigan confidence index

June 24 (Reuters) – U.S. household sentiment has deteriorated even more sharply than initially estimated in June, final results from the University of Michigan’s monthly survey showed on Friday.

Its confidence index fell to 50.0 from 58.4 in May. A first estimate had given it at 50.2 two weeks ago, an all-time low, and the Reuters consensus expected a confirmation of this figure, estimates ranging between 48.5 and 51.0.

The consumer judgment component on their current situation fell to 53.8 after 63.3 the previous month and that of the outlook to 47.5 against 55.2. (Written by Marc Angrand, edited by Jean-Michel Bélot)
