USA: increase in registrations for unemployment benefits


(CercleFinance.com) – Claims for unemployment benefits in the United States increased by 9,000 during the week of December 24, standing at 225,000 against 216,000 (figure confirmed compared to the initial estimate) the previous week, according to the Department of Labor.

On the other hand, the moving average over four weeks – considered a better indicator of the underlying trend of the employment market – shows a timid decline of 250 from one week to another to settle at 221,000.

Finally, the number of people regularly receiving benefits increased by 41,000 to reach 1,710,000 during the week of December 17, ie the last week available for this statistic.
