USA-Sharper than expected drop in household morale in March-Michigan


PARIS, March 11 (Reuters) – The morale of American households has deteriorated more than expected since the beginning of March, the first estimate of the monthly survey by the University of Michigan showed on Friday.

Its confidence index fell to 59.7, the lowest level since September 2011, after 62.8 in February while the Reuters consensus was expecting a figure of 61.4.

The component of consumers’ judgment of their current situation fell to 67.8, after 68.2 the previous month and a consensus of 66.0.

That of the outlook fell to 54.4, a low since October 2011, against 59.4 in February and a consensus of 58.8. (Edited by Claude Chendjou)
