USA: slight drop in weekly jobless claims


(CercleFinance.com) – Weekly jobless claims fell slightly the week of August 15 in the United States, settling at 243,000, against 245,000 (revised figure) the previous week, according to figures from the Department work.

On the other hand, the four-week moving average – which can be considered a better indicator of the underlying trend in the labor market – rose slightly, to 247,000, against 245,500 (revised figure) a week earlier.

Finally, the number of people regularly receiving benefits amounted to 1,415,000 during the week of August 8 according to the most recent figures available, which represents a drop of 19,000 compared to the revised figure for the previous week. .
