USA: slight increase in weekly unemployment claims


(CercleFinance.com) – The number of registrations for unemployment benefits in the United States increased by 2,000 during the week of September 25, reaching 207,000 according to the Department of Labor compared to 205,000 the previous week (figure revised from report to the 204,000 initially announced).

The four-week moving average – considered a better indicator of the underlying trend in the job market – reveals a decline of 2,500 in the number of registrations compared to the previous week, to stand at 208,750.

Finally, the number of people regularly receiving compensation fell by 1,000 to stand at 1,664,000 during the week of September 18, the most recent period available for this statistic.
