USA: State Department approves possible sale of F-16 to Turkey for $23 billion


Jan 26 (Reuters) – The U.S. State Department approved a possible sale of F-16 fighter jets and related equipment to Turkey in a deal estimated at $23 billion (21 billion ‘euros), the Pentagon said on Friday.

The Turkish parliament this week ratified Sweden’s membership in NATO and the Turkish president signed the accession law.

Both Turkish President Erdogan and the US Congress linked Ankara’s final decision to the sale of F-16 fighter jets manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
