USA: Stronger than expected increase in industrial production in May


June 18 (Reuters) – Industrial production in the United States started to rise again in May, official statistics released on Tuesday showed.

The Federal Reserve reported a 0.9% increase in industrial production last month, after stagnating in April.

Analysts polled by Reuters on average expected an increase of 0.3%.

Manufacturing production, for its part, increased by 0.9%, after a drop of 0.4% (revised) in April and against a consensus of 0.3%. (Written by Augustin Turpin, edited by Blandine Hénault)
