USA: Surprise rebound in the “Empire State” activity index in November


November 15 (Reuters) – Manufacturing activity in the New York region rebounded unexpectedly in November, a monthly survey from the regional branch of the Federal Reserve showed on Wednesday.

Its “Empire State” index rose to +9.1 after -4.6 in October.

Economists polled by Reuters on average forecast a reading of -2.8.

The new orders component stands at -4.9 after -4.2 last month and that of employment at -4.5 after +3.1.

The sub-index measuring companies’ judgment on their business prospects over a six-month horizon decreased to -0.9 after +23.1 in October. (Gdansk editorial office)
