USA: The ISM manufacturing index unchanged in August


WASHINGTON, Sept 1 (Reuters) – U.S. manufacturing activity remained flat in August, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) monthly survey released on Thursday showed.

The ISM manufacturing index came out unchanged last month at 52.8, the same level as in July, which then marked its lowest level since June 2020.

Economists polled by Reuters on average expected a figure of 52.0.

The new orders sub-index, on the other hand, rose to 51.3 from 48.0 the previous month, while that of employment fell from 49.9 to 54.2, the highest since March.

The prices paid component came out at 52.5, its lowest level since June 2020, after 60.0 in July. (Report Lucia Mutikani; French version Claude Chendjou, edited by Sophie Louet)
