USA-The Supreme Court towards the annulment of a case law on abortion-press

WASHINGTON, May 3 (Reuters) – A leaked preliminary opinion suggests the U.S. Supreme Court will rule to overturn Roe vs. abortion vis–vis the Constitution, Politico reported Monday.

This unprecedented “leak” of a document from the highest court of the United States has sent shock waves through the country, for its content, but also because the Supreme Court prides itself on always keeping its deliberations secret.

Reuters could not verify the authenticity of the document. No comment was made by the Supreme Court and the White House.

One of the Court’s conservative justices, Samuel Alito, wrote that the Roe vs Wade ruling was “absolutely wrong from the start,” according to the document, dated February 10, a copy of which Politico posted on its website. .

According to Politico, four of the other conservative judges on the nine-member Supreme Court sided with Samuel Alito’s opinion.

The abortion issue has been one of the most sensitive and polarizing in American politics for nearly half a century.

It is not unusual for the votes of Supreme Court justices to move between the initial opinion and the final decision, which is published by the Court. (Report Kanishka Singh and Eric Beech, with Andrea Shalal and Lawrence Hurley; French version Jean Terzian)
