USA: trade deficit sharply widened in April


(CercleFinance.com) – The United States trade deficit widened significantly to 74.6 billion dollars in April, compared to that of 68.6 billion the previous month (which was revised from an initial estimate of 69.4 billion), according to the Department of Commerce.

This 8.7% jump in the deficit from one month to the next results from a 2.4% increase in imports of goods and services by the United States, to 338.2 billion dollars, clearly exceeding a increase of 0.8% in their exports, to 263.7 billion.
