USA: UMich index estimated to rise sharply in July

(CercleFinance.com) – US consumer confidence improved sharply in July, according to the index calculated by the University of Michigan (UMich), which stood at 72.6 as a preliminary estimate, compared to 64. .4 for the previous month.

This increase, where Jefferies was only hoping for a much more timid rise to 66, reflects consumers’ better judgment of both their current situation (77.5 versus 69 in June) and their outlook (69.4 versus 61.5 in June).
