USA: widening trade deficit in January


(CercleFinance.com) – The United States trade deficit widened to 67.4 billion dollars in January, compared to that of 64.2 billion the previous month (which was revised from an initial estimate of 62.2 billion), according to the Department of Commerce.

This 5.1% increase in the deficit from one month to the next reflects a 1.1% increase in imports of goods and services by the United States, to 324.6 billion dollars, while its exports have almost stagnated (+0.1%) at 257.2 billion.
