Fire alarm on Tuesday evening in St. Johann in Tirol (Kitzbühel district): While a 24-year-old was in his bathroom, a fire suddenly broke out in the ventilation area. The young man had to be hospitalized with suspected smoke poisoning. Other residents were uninjured.
When the 24-year-old Czech noticed the smoke and flames, he immediately ran out of the bathroom. “A neighbor started the rescue chain and alerted the fire brigade. After the fire had already been fought with fire extinguishers, the four residents present at the time left the house until the emergency services arrived, ”the police said.
Fire broke out when ventilated
The 24-year-old was admitted to the St. Johann hospital with suspected smoke poisoning. “Initial surveys carried out showed that the fire in the area of the fan in the wooden ceiling of the bathroom may have broken out,” said the investigators.
Further surveys on the cause of the fire will follow. The volunteer fire brigade St. Johann in Tirol was in action with 40 emergency services and eight vehicles.
