In addition to Western arms deliveries, Ukraine also relies on its own developments. Such could have been used in an attack on the Russian city of Pskov. It’s 700 kilometers from the border. Russian anti-aircraft defenses do not respond.

A new long-range weapon made in Ukraine has successfully reached a target 700 kilometers away, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video on his Telegram channel. He did not share the location and time of the attack at the meeting with high-ranking military and other officials. He also left it open what type of weapon it was.

The day before, Russia reported a massive wave of drone strikes on its western regions. According to the Ukrainian military, four military transport aircraft based in Pskov were destroyed in the attack.

Pskov is 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. According to British assessments, the recent drone attacks on Russia reveal weaknesses in the country’s air defense systems. In August, Russia suffered around 25 individual drone attacks, the Ministry of Defense in London wrote on Thursday.

Sea drones go into mass production

Last week, Ukraine released more information about the development of its own weapons, in particular about the production of sea drones. The country is now in a position to build these drones on a large scale, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, said on August 24, according to the Kyiv Independent.

While he didn’t say how many naval drones Ukraine uses or has available, Ukraine doesn’t make “one or two in garages,” he said. “Mass production is underway.”

On August 15, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) also claimed that it used the new experimental sea drone, nicknamed “Sea Baby,” in the July 17 attack on the Crimean bridge. “Sea drones are a unique invention of the Ukrainian security service,” Vasyl Maliuk, head of the SBU, told CNN. “No other private companies are involved.”
