users will receive from 37.60 euros to 112.80 euros to compensate for difficulties in transport

Users of public transport in the Ile-de-France region will receive 37.60 euros to 112.80 euros in reimbursement. The organizing authority for Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) transport in the Ile-de-France region announced, Thursday, February 9, 67 million euros in compensation for holders of the Navigo pass, in particular due to the degradation of service on the network. bus and metro operated by RATP between September and December 2022.

“We have decided to compensate all Ile-de-France residents who have purchased three monthly passes over the last four months of 2022 by half a month”, announced Valérie Pécresse, the president of the Ile-de-France region, during a press conference. Some RER B and D users will benefit from additional compensation due to less than 80% regularity on their line for several months. Mme Pécresse announced on December 31 that the “load reductions” – namely the sums not paid by IDFM to the RATP due to a lack of service – would be returned to users.

During the last four months of the year, 25% of scheduled buses did not run on the RATP surface network, as did 10 to 20% of metros. “The recovery is underway and it is progressing slowly”added the regional president, promising to make a new progress report on Monday. “In January, we were forced to very significantly increase the price of the Navigo pass – which rose from 75.20 euros to 84.10 euros – in a period when the quality of service was not there”lamented Valérie Pécresse.

Opening an online space

IDFM’s online compensation space will open on March 14 and it will be possible to make a request for a month, simply by communicating your Navigo pass number or bank statements proving the payments. In addition to this exceptional compensation – for a total amount of 60 million euros – IDFM will pay up to 7 million euros to certain users of RER B and D who are victims of repeated malfunctions on their lines.

Four sections of B and one of D are eligible. It suffices to present a certificate of residence or employer proving the regular use of these routes and of having purchased monthly transport tickets over periods when the quality of service was less than 80%.

For three months with less than 80% regularity, each user of these lines will be reimbursed for half a month of their ticket; for six months, it will be a whole month. In total, the allowances can go up to 112.80 euros if they are combined.
