Thanks to advancing vaccination campaigns, a light can be seen at the end of the Corona tunnel across Europe. Many are therefore already planning a vacation.

Hills, forests, mountains, lake landscapes and the sea – there is a lot to discover in Germany even during the corona pandemic. But usually more than a day trip is currently not possible. That’s why many are already planning for the time after the lockdown. A survey by the provider “Tourlane” shows: For 85 percent of Germans, travel has the highest priority in 2021, even if only 30 percent have booked a vacation.

vacation at home

Many are drawn to German regions, often close to their own place of residence, because they shy away from the long journey abroad. The exit and entry regulations are currently too uncertain and changeable, mostly in connection with a corona test, proof of vaccination and / or the obligation to quarantine. Whether through the Black Forest, along the edge of the Alps or on the Wadden Sea: If you can’t miss the currently closed restaurants and cafés, you have numerous opportunities to immerse yourself in nature, be it hiking trails, bike or canoe tours.

camping

Depending on the Corona incidence in the respective region, camping is possible in different ways. If you want to go it alone and away from the large mass camping sites, you can ask farmers, ideally in advance, whether you can pitch your tent with them for a few days. It is more comfortable than in a tent in a – rented or own – mobile home or camper. But be careful: In most regions, the camper is currently only allowed to be parked and spent overnight in order to “restore its driving ability”. If you really want to legally camp wild and dare to spend the night away from civilization, the Scandinavian countries are more the destination of choice. What could be nicer than unfolding the roof tent of your SUV and enjoying the starry sky?

“Offroad” vacation

Anyone who wants to leave the beaten path with a motorized vehicle can do that too. Not stubbornly cross-country, but those who are equipped with an off-road vehicle can easily reach areas that cannot be reached with a large motorhome or standard rental car. These regions with their lonely beaches and small villages often score points for their relaxing solitude.

Those who don’t dare to venture into more remote areas on their own can also book guided off-road adventures. “Land Rover”, for example, offers “Experience Tours” that have stopped on every continent in the past and will also take place in 2021 as soon as possible.

Houseboat vacation

If you want to experience a more unusual vacation, you can do so on a houseboat. Undisturbed and unbound, it goes from one beautiful place to the next. Overcrowded places can easily be avoided, a quieter jetty is sure to wait a few minutes up or down the river. There are numerous offers throughout Europe, with the navigable canals of France being particularly popular.

Sailing trip

It is similar with sailing trips, which, however, unlike houseboats, require appropriate knowledge and a sailing license. At sea, crowds of people can be avoided and the happiness of the sailor is not in the harbor anyway, but on the water. Throughout Germany there are numerous providers for the rental of boats, where young sailors and experienced captains can find the right floe. But also the European Mediterranean neighbors such as Spain, Italy, Croatia or Greece invite you to extensive sailing trips away from mass tourism.
