Relaxing on your own island? It is possible here

Instead of simply booking a hotel room, globetrotters can briefly master an entire island. It is possible here.

After months in lockdown, some are ripe for the island. It’s good that the number of cases is slowly falling and one or the other island with its sun, palm trees and beach beckons. You can even rent these islands.

Sugarloaf near Grenada

It starts with a sugar-sweet islet in the truest sense of the word. The shape of a sugar loaf gave “Sugarloaf” its name. The uninhabited island is located off the northeast coast of Saint Patrick, belongs to Grenada and is therefore part of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. The neighboring islands of Sandy Island, Green Island and Bird Island can only be reached by boat. Once arrived, holidaymakers can expect pure nature. And what does the Caribbean idyll cost? According to Airbnb, you have to spend around 400 euros for one night, regardless of the number of guests.

Isla Rosa in Colombia

Isla Rosa belongs to the Islas del Rosario and is located around 30 kilometers off the coast of the Colombian city of Cartagena. It is so small that there is actually only one house on it. The archipelago is famous for the magnificent coral reefs that make every diver’s heart beat faster. If you want to jump straight into the sea from the terrace, you have to dig deep into your pocket: a night on the mini island costs around 1,100 euros. Depending on the occupancy, it is of course cheaper for each guest.

Major reason in Finland

If you want to feel Scandinavian flair, you should try Majorsgrund off the coast of western Finland. The website promises real Robinson Crusoe feeling. Up to ten guests can be accommodated on the 240 meter long and 110 meter wide island, which can therefore be easily explored on foot. An additional plus point: The UNESCO World Heritage Kvarken Archipelago is practically on the doorstep. If the islet is too lonely or the self-sufficient existence is too cumbersome, a flying visit to the town of Vaasa, which is very close by, is a good idea.

Ornsay in the Scottish Sea

Anyone who appreciates peace and solitude will get their money’s worth on the Scottish island of Ornsay. There you can enjoy a lighthouse keeper’s house and the view over the rough sea. There isn’t really much to do on Ornsay, but who can claim to have lived in a lighthouse? Cost: 600 per night.
