Vacationers alarmed – pink unicorn triggered police operation

Two paragliders had an accident in Salzburg at the weekend – one of them got off very lightly. A flying pink unicorn also caused a stir.

A 36-year-old pilot from Salzburg was lucky in misfortune on Saturday. He was in the air with his paraglider around 3 p.m. when he crashed and got stuck in a tree about 20 meters away. He was not injured, but had to be freed from his predicament by the Werfen mountain rescue service in a complex rescue operation. Another paragliding accident was not quite as bad: Almost at the same time, a 62-year-old man from Styria fell with his paraglider from a height of 20 meters shortly after take-off from Bischling and injured his back. The Styrian was flown to the Schwarzach clinic by the rescue helicopter after first aid. Curious mission in Wengerau The police officers in Wengerau also had a very curious mission: around 5 p.m. German vacationers reported a possible crash of a paraglider. They had previously observed a flying object that had crashed into alpine terrain. However, the police officers could only find a large balloon in the shape of a pink unicorn on site – the Germans may have mistaken the unicorn for a paraglider. Also on Sunday, a 25-year-old paraglider stayed in a tree. She was also unharmed, but also had to be rescued from the tree by the mountain rescue team.
