Vaccine pass: the examination of the text by the Senate postponed

This can therefore call into question an entry into application of the law on January 15. Gathered Wednesday January 5 around Gérard Larcher (LR), the conference of presidents concluded that the draft law on the vaccine pass will be examined in committee on Monday January 10 in the afternoon.

His examination in the hemicycle, which should have started this Thursday, is now scheduled from Tuesday afternoon and until Wednesday evening. This on the assumption that the text would actually be transmitted on time by the National Assembly, which resumed the debates on Wednesday. They had been suspended Tuesday evening after controversial remarks by President Emmanuel Macron against the unvaccinated.

If the deputies did not finish the examination of the text on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, the debates at the Palais-Bourbon would be supposed to resume Friday. More than 380 amendments remained to be considered early Wednesday evening. “The Senate takes control of the calendar”, indicated the leader of senators LR Bruno Retailleau, considering it necessary, in “a climate of hysteresis”, to “put the game”.

Once the text has been adopted by the Senate, with modifications, it will still be necessary for deputies and senators to find an agreement on a common version, in a joint committee (CMP), then for this version to be voted on for the last time by the two chambers. If the CMP failed, the deadline would be further extended: the bill would be read again in both chambers, before the Assembly had the last word.
