Vaccines, back to school … all you need to know about Jean Castex’s announcements on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 6 p.m.: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Jean Castex will participate, Thursday April 22, 2021, in a press conference to discuss the epidemic situation of the country as well as the management of the crisis. The Prime Minister will speak at 6 p.m.. Alongside the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, he should first of all address, according to an article by LCI published Wednesday April 2021, the start of the school year, the date of which has been set for Monday April 26, 2021 for primary, and Monday May 3 for middle and high school. In an attempt to reduce the risk of contamination within schools, self-tests will be distributed at least once a week to high school students. National Education staff should benefit from two tests. For college students, saliva tests will be used. One million Covid-19 tests should thus be carried out each week. According to LCI, classes will be closed from the first confirmed case.

Jean Castex and Jean-Michel Blanquer could also come back to the issue of canteens, which are places conducive to contamination, and where barrier gestures are difficult to implement correctly, as well as on the issue of end-of-year exams.

Vaccination will also be discussed

Olivier Véran will also be present at this press conference. At his side, the Prime Minister should take stock of the current vaccination campaign. As of Saturday April 24, 2021, the employees of “second line” over 55 years of age will also be able to be vaccinated. This concerns bus drivers, housekeepers, truck drivers, cashiers and even funeral directors. 400,000 workers will benefit from this decision.

The question of borders will also be raised: after having suspended air links with Brazil, where a very aggressive variant is rife, France could do the same for India. The variant which is wreaking havoc in the country carries a double mutation which leads to greater resistance to vaccines, as well as great contagiousness.
