Vagina steamer, vajacial, yoni egg: 3 wellness trends below the belt

Ever since actress Gwyneth Paltrow got the ball rolling on her lifestyle page Goop, everyone has been talking about the yoni egg. But if it is not enough to insert an egg-shaped rose quartz into the vagina, you can also take care of your intimate area with a steam bath and special care. What nonsense? We’ll take a closer look.

The yoni egg for better sex

Yoni eggs are made of jade or rose quartz and, as the name suggests, are introduced into the yoni. Sounds strange, but is supposed to not only train the pelvic floor, but also to release more energy and improve orgasms. In addition, the eggs are said to help with period problems and hormone fluctuations.

The eggs can now also be purchased in Germany. Not everyone is convinced of its effect, however. On the contrary: Doctors even warn against the very pretty gemstones. The practice has no advantages for the sexuality and the porous material of the jade stones also poses a potential health risk – especially with respect to life-threatening infections. Then prefer to train the pelvic floor with the well-known love balls.

Vagina steaming – relaxation with hot vapors

Ladies, get the bowls out and steam your vulva! Even in ancient China, the concubines are said to have sworn by herbal vapors for a loose bottom, so it can't be that bad. The hot vapors are primarily intended to relax the pelvic floor muscles and act as a kind of detox treatment that cleans the vaginal mucosa. But what do doctors say?

"The vagina normally does not need any help with cleaning, it cleans itself," explains Dr. Sheila de Liz told Elle magazine. "Steaming loosens and relaxes the pelvic floor muscles, but it also promotes blood circulation."

For women who are struggling with pain, cramps and dryness during sex, steaming can be very helpful.

That's how it works:

  1. Bring two to three liters of water to a boil.
  2. Add a selection of fresh or dried herbs.
  3. Simmer the herb stock again for 10 minutes and then let it cool down a bit.
  4. Transfer the hot herbal water into a bowl and place it under the edge of a chair, for example, some bowls can also simply be hung in the toilet.
  5. Take off your underwear and sit on the edge of the chair so that the vapors reach the vulva.
  6. Now cover with a blanket or towel so that you don't freeze and the herbal vapors cannot escape.
  7. Let the steam bath work for 20 to 30 minutes.

Vagina steaming is a gentle, natural treatment with no dramatic risks. However, it should be avoided in case of fungal infections.

Vajacial makes the vagina beautiful

Facials are old hat. The latest hype that goes under the belt is called Vajacial and is a kind of facial, just not for the face, but for the vagina. But why do you do that? Quite simply: Where hair used to grow, today everything is shaved away. A clear view of everything. And we women actually ask ourselves whether we are beautiful enough down there? Crazy, right? And that's why vulva treatments are easy.

How the vajacial works:

  1. Cleaning with an antibacterial washing lotion
  2. Peeling against ingrown hairs after shaving
  3. Mask that is adapted to the individual “skin types” to combat impurities
  4. This is followed by treatment with a bleaching cream that is intended to optimize and lighten the “complexion” of the vagina

So and when you have all these more or less meaningful trends, hopefully the underbody is like new, sex life is the best ever and the pelvic floor is more relaxed than it has been for a long time. Well then, up to the hip bath!
