On Christmas Eve there was an accident with a snow groomer in the canton of Valais. A pedestrian lost her life and a toddler was seriously injured.
The accident occurred on the Fiescheralpe / Kühboden.
The driver of a snow groomer overlooked a woman and child on Saturday.
The woman died on the spot.
The 2-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.
There was a fatal accident on the Fiescheralpe / Kühboden on Saturday, as the Valais cantonal police wrote in a press release. A 22-year-old man drove backwards in a snow groomer in front of the vehicle depot. He overlooked a pedestrian who was with her granddaughter immediately behind the rear of the vehicle.
The woman and the toddler were hit by the snow groomer. The 73-year-old woman succumbed to her serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The 2-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident and was flown by helicopter to the Inselspital in Bern.
The deceased victim is a Swiss woman who lives in the canton of Lucerne. The prosecutor has opened an investigation. The police psychologist went to the site to provide psychological support for those affected.
