Valérie Pécresse: “I don’t want us to come to France just because there is no selection at the entrance to university”

Guest of the program “Elysée 2022: Ask for the program”, on CNEWS, Valérie Pécresse, LR candidate for the 2022 presidential election, addressed one of her favorite themes, immigration.

She was notably questioned on a CSA poll for CNEWS, according to which 59% of French people are for the establishment of immigration quotas by profession and by country, joining her project. A project that she wanted to clarify.

“We do not treat the same way the countries which are cooperative with France and the others, which take back their illegal immigrants and those which do not take them back, she explained. This is the first criterion.

“Then we look at the types of immigration. [Pour] student immigration, it is necessary to organize a selection at the entrance to the university. It requires selective orientation. […] This means that universities must provide selection criteria. […] Entry without selection is over.”

A choice assumed by the candidate: “I want the best students from all the countries that come. […] I do not want us to come to France only because there is no selection at the entrance to the university.
