As Île-de-France prepares to host the Olympic Games in 2024, its president, Valérie Pécresse, reveals herself in a long interview given to Point. She returns to her political campaign for win the hearts of the French in 2022before the presidential election. A short but intense period, which the politician describes by evoking in particular the violence she was the target of. Demeaned and mocked, Valérie Pécresse does not seem to be open to the idea of trying again in 2027. Because if the election is still only implicit in the political world, some are already preparing for it. Would Valérie Pécresse be one of them?
According to her, nothing is impossible. Speaking of a “extraordinary experience” that she does not regret, despite an outcome far from what she expected, she however adds: “If I could redo it, I would”. Close to Claude Chirac and former friend of Nicolas Sarkozy therefore do not close the door to a new application. She also specifies that she lost an election but not her convictions. She is still ironic about the reaction of those around her to a new campaign: “My family would definitely be a lot less enthusiastic!”
What does Valérie Pécresse think of Emmanuel Macron?
Eliminated at the end of the first round against Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, the president of the Ile-de-France region spoke about the policies of the current President of the Republic, accusing him of not wanting to trust those who want to undertake. “He would have to accept that there are good ideas elsewhere than in one head.” But if she still counts positive things in her assessment, she still does not admit to being won over by Brigitte Macron’s husband. An opinion dictated by his passion for politics and his desire to be “useful to (one’s) country”that she does not resign herself to “see sink” : she does not want the mandate of the President to be a “after me, disorder”.
