The President of the Region and LR presidential candidate returned the donation – 2,000 euros – from Nicolas Sarkozy for his “Pécressethon”, which began on April 11.

“She does not ask for charity, but solidarity and friendship” explains the entourage of Valérie Pécresse in “Le Figaro”. Because the fallen candidate refused the donation sent by Nicolas Sarkozy, information published today by Politico and confirmed by his relatives. First presented as a “four-figure sum”, his collaborators confirm: 2,000 euros. Valérie Pécresse has decided to return the sum to the sender, who has always refused to support her publicly, even going so far as to meet Emmanuel Macron during the campaign – an investigation to be found in the Paris Match issue of Thursday April 14 latest.

2.5 million euros collected for the “Pécressethon”

The day after the LR debacle in the presidential election, the President of the Region gave herself up, at the party headquarters Rue de Vaugirard, announcing that she had “Personally indebted up to five million euros”. What gossips call the “Pécressethon”, collected, as of May 5, 2022, 2.5 million euros. The candidate had said to launch this call for donations until May 15.

More than a disavowal – or revenge – on the part of Valérie Pécresse against Nicolas Sarkozy, it is a divorce that takes place in public. According to “the JDD”, the former president also provided Emmanuel Macron with a list of LR deputies likely to cross the Rubicon and join Macronie for the legislative elections. For the moment, the LR-LREM alliance seems to be consolidating, with a large third of right-wing deputies (around thirty out of 101) who are ready to form an alliance with the re-elected government.

For her part, Valérie Pécresse remains on her line. After taking a vacation, just to recover from this violent defeat, she returned to Paris. She is continuing her mandate as President of the Ile-de-France region, whose next political office will be held in the days to come.
