LR presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse announced on her Twitter account on Thursday that she had contracted Covid-19 and that she would continue her campaign “from a distance”. “Tested positive for Covid, I am continuing the campaign remotely and in compliance with health rules. All our meetings are maintained thanks to the mobilization of the team”, she said.

The trip to the Bouches-du-Rhône canceled

Candidate LR was on Wednesday evening on C8 in the show Facing Baba by Cyril Hanouna. During the three hours of broadcast, the president of the Ile-de-France region faced, in particular, Fabien Roussel, Marion Maréchal, Nadine Morano and Adrien Quatennens. The candidate LR had presented Thursday morning a draft reform of the Constitution to “restore order”.

Valérie Pécresse was to go to Bordeaux on Friday but “the meeting will be hosted by someone else”, it was said in her entourage. This person will be his campaign manager, Patrick Stefanini. His Saturday trip to the Bouches-du-Rhône “is canceled”, we added. Despite mild symptoms, such as a cold, Valérie Pécresse will still participate in the Élysée 2022 program on France 2 this Thursday evening by videoconference.

This positive test comes on top of recent lackluster performances and unflattering polls. “But there is no question of being discouraged,” says the candidate, who will attack as soon as she has completed her period of isolation the home stretch of her campaign.
