Aug 18 (Reuters) – The World Health Organization (WHO) on Thursday recommended the use of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by French laboratory Valneva.
The United Nations agency has also recommended the use of a second booster injection for people at high risk of a severe form of the disease.
This recommendation does not, however, constitute a general recommendation for vaccination of all adults and it only aims to avoid serious forms and deaths in the high-risk population, she said.
The recommendations come after a meeting of WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunization strategy held last week.
