Many teams want to join VALORANT’s new franchise league, which will leave vacant slots in regional competitions.
According to sources contacted by Blix.ggtwo teams are reportedly set to join VALORANT’s regional leagues for the upcoming season: FC Barcelona and Solary. Both structures could benefit from a point of Riot’s competition rules: teams chosen for the new franchise competition cannot integrate their academies into regional leaguesthus avoiding ending up with two formations of the same structure during a promotion.
Indeed, the VALORANT franchise league will appear in 2023, thus bringing a new format of competition for the elite. A new competition for global teams will be launched, with representatives from several regions, and expanded regional leagues based on the principle of VRL that we were able to discover in Europe in 2022, in particular with France. The teams currently in the regional league that will join this new franchised league will free up slots for other structures. According to the sources, FC Barcelona and Solary are two teams interested in entering VRL.
For the moment, no team mentioned has confirmed its interest in joining the VALORANT esports sceneespecially since the name of the structures selected to launch the very first franchise league has not been given.
