VALORANT: Update 5.0 of June 22, the details – VALORANT

Riot Games revealed the patch notes and details for the 5.0 update a few days before its arrival on the official servers. This allows the community to find out much earlier about the changes that will be made, including Pearl, the new menu. Unfortunately, no new Agents arrive through Act 1 of Episode 5.

In short, this update removes Split from the pool of playable maps, given that, according to the developers, it is the least liked and relevant map. No information on the duration of his unavailability has been communicated. The other highlight of this major update is the integration of a new rank, Ascendant, between the Diamond and Immortal ranks. Riot explains that this rank is put in place to avoid overcrowding and therefore too great a difference in level between the Platinum and Diamond ranks.

To find out more, we leave you with the VALORANT Update 5.0 patch notespublished this Wednesday, June 22.

MAP UPDATES

PEARL

  • NEW MAP: Pearl has arrived!
  • Queue dedicated to Pearl
    • This unranked queue will allow players to practice on the new map before it arrives in Competitive mode.
    • The queue dedicated to Pearl will be available for 2 weeks, then Pearl will integrate the Competition mode.

SPLIT

  • We are temporarily removing Split from the Unranked and Competitive queues.

COMPETITION MODE UPDATES

NEW RANK: ASCENDING

  • We’ve added a new rank between Diamond and Immortal: Ascendant.
    • We think the lower Tiers are a little too crowded, especially the Bronze and Silver Tiers. By studying the distribution of players, we realized that raising some of you would lead to overcrowding of the Platinum and Diamond ranks. By adding a new rank, we can better distribute the players, preserve the prestige of the higher ranks, and better define the level of play in each rank.
  • Following the addition of the new Ascendant rank, we have lowered the MMR targets for all ranks under Ascendant. We have increased the ranking target for Immortal 1/2/3 and Radiant ranks.
    • These are the counters that say “you should have this MMR to reach this rank”. MMR goals determine your SC gains and help achieve the rank that matches your MMR.
  • This means that players will progress through the ranks if they are ranked under Ascendant.
  • To be more consistent with what we expect from the highest ranked players in VALORANT, those who finished at Immortal rank or better in the previous episode will have a harder time regaining their rank. This also means that there will be fewer people at the Immortal rank, regardless of the region.
  • Due to the seasonal reset, you may need to put in a little effort to progress through the ranks at the start of the episode. That said, the reset will be less brutal compared to the previous episode. Since we’re moving players up to fill the Ascendant rank, the reset won’t hit you as hard.
  • The next rank reset will no doubt drop you lower than in this episode. Please note that only the reset of this episode will be less brutal, because we have just added the Ascendant rank.
  • At Ascendant rank, the maximum gap between players in an arranged party in Ranked mode is now 3 ranks.
    • The rules imposed on groups from Platinum rank therefore remain in force.
  • In placement games, the highest attainable rank is now Ascendant 1 (previously Diamond 1).
  • The 25% SC penalty for groups of 5 now applies from Immortal rank 1 (up from Diamond 3).
  • The solo/duo/group of 5 play restriction now applies from Immortal rank 1 (up from Diamond 3 previously).
    • Remember: from Diamond 3, you could only play solo, duo or group of 5. This restriction now applies from Immortal rank 1.
    • With the addition of a new rank, we were able to push back to the Immortal rank the penalty for groups of 5 and the restriction of solo/duo play. This makes things more consistent, since the Immortal rank is where the leaderboard begins and is where we want players to prove they deserve their place.
  • Since the eighth tier of Sage’s contract was already called Ascendant, we decided to rename it “Intrepid”.
    • Renaming this title wasn’t an easy decision, but after discussing it internally, we felt it was a good opportunity to bring this title closer to Sage’s theme and personality.

BUGS

MAPS

  • Fixed a bug where you couldn’t use your graffiti on a wall in Haven Garden A.

AGENTS

  • Fixed a bug where Jett could equip a weapon during Tailwind.
  • Fixed a bug where agents revealed by Sova’s Scouting Arrow or Fade’s Haunter could sometimes briefly appear in the wrong location on the minimap.
  • Fixed a bug where the scope visual effect would sometimes disappear when aiming with Chamber’s Feat of Strength.

GAMING SYSTEMS

  • Fixed a bug where using an ultimate orb or defusing a spike at max range could cause the channeling/progress bars to flicker.
  • Fixed a bug where the channeling/progress bar would not update if the player disconnected and reconnected during gameplay.
  • Fixed a bug where the animation speed was sometimes incorrect when equipping a weapon, preventing you from knowing when you could actually start firing. Some situations affected by this bug:
    • When Cypher left his Spy Camera.
    • When you captured ultimate orbs.
    • When you undo and finish laying the spike.
