VALORANT: Will Split return to FPS?

With the release of Episode 5, several major changes are applied to VALORANT. The arrival of a new card, Pearl, is one of them. But this is not without consequence, since one of the flagship cards for players, available since launch and even playable during the beta, will simply disappear from the FPS. Riot Games explained on the official website the reasons for the shelving of Splitwhile explaining some things about maps.

Split is therefore removed from VALORANT since the developers feel that having too many cards is not a good thing for players. They thus settled on the number of seven playable cards, and Split was named as the least liked and relevant. This is why it has not been playable since June 22, 2022, partly competitive and unranked. However, it remains so in the other modes.

Will Split return to VALORANT?

Riot Games has not provided 100% assurance that Split will be back, but implied it very strongly. Joe Lansford, level designer, explains that the developers are “ Pretty sure she’ll be back at some point… As a bonus, we may be entitled to some changes.

To make the Japan-based map more attractive than it is, although it’s a pretty nice map to play, Riot could indeed integrate a few features, like Bind’s teleporters, or revise the location of the bomb sites, which are quite far away, with a rotation that can be complicated.

In all cases, Split will be unplayable in VALORANT for several months, without a doubt. Riot Games will give news about this map in the more or less near future, as soon as the studio has an idea of ​​the evolution of the map.

The seven playable cards will therefore be Haven, Bind, Ascent, Icebox, Breeze, Fracture and Pearl. It is possible that a rotation of playable maps will take place in the near future, which will allow older ones to be reviewed and improved.
