Varré and heavy weapons in the spotlight on Elden Ring

The Shardless have seen their lives improve with the latest patch, whether it’s playing co-op or completing certain quests. With the 1.06 update, the distance of the signs of summons increases on Elden Ring, and Varré sees his quest slightly revamped. But these are not the only changes to be noticed. Heavy weapons benefit from a new improvement in balancing.

Patch 1.06 Essentials

In this patch, the main changes concern above all the online mode. The latter benefits from a marked improvement with the summoning and invasion distance which is drastically increased. With this, it becomes less dangerous to progress each at their own pace before meeting again. But it also means that invasions can occur more frequently.

But in their view of making the game accessible for any player, From Software is also modifying Varré’s quest in Elden Ring. Thus, there is a new way to advance your quest, without having to go through the invasion of opposing players. To do this, you must find a new NPC. (non-player character) that will have to be undone.

Many balances in sight

For once, heavy weapons see their effectiveness increase. Thus, with a heavy, curved sword or a heavy hammer it becomes possible to use the roll more quickly after an attack. This change does not apply to jump, dual weapon, or mounted attacks. Heavy and charged attack animations off the mount are faster. The guard is also accelerating. Great Axes also have their rolls become faster after a hit.

  • Roll distance is greater in light gear
  • The Encrypted Sword has its Unstoppable Blade range increased
  • Increased the distance of the projectiles of the Ashes of War “Shardstone Arrow” and “Shardstone Spire”
  • The distance traveled by “Stalking Knight” and “Snitch Step” is increased, but their performance is reduced after each use
  • Ashes of War “Bloody Slaughter” have had their damage and bleed stack reduced
  • The “Stars of Perdition” lose precision
