VAT receipts up 8.9% in 2022

Revenue from value added tax (VAT) in France grew by 8.9% in 2022, faster than inflation, the Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFiP) reported on Tuesday.

These revenues have increased from 169 billion euros in 2021 to 184 billion last year, specifies this administration which depends on the Minister of Finance.

37.9% of state revenue in 2022

These figures, which are still provisional, do not include import VAT, the full amount of which was not collected by the DGFiP in 2021.

According to the Minister of Finance, VAT, which is a levy on all goods and services consumed in France, represented 37.9% of state tax revenue in 2022, compared to 23.8% for income tax. and 18.9% for corporation tax.
