(Boursier.com) — Vauban Infrastructure Partners is pleased to announce the signing of the acquisition of a significant minority stake (20%) in Paprec Holding, a French integrated waste and recycling company, operating in the collection, sorting and treatment of non-hazardous waste from private and municipal entities. Paprec is the third player in the French waste management market, with a turnover of approximately 2.1 billion euros in 2021. Following this operation, Vauban will become Paprec’s second largest shareholder.
Paprec was founded in 1994 by Jean-Luc Petithuguenin and remains controlled by him and his family. Historically focused on the sorting and sale of raw materials for industrial customers, Paprec has evolved into a fully integrated company, with a solid portfolio of infrastructure assets, covering the entire waste management value chain. in France by ensuring the collection, sorting and treatment (recycling, incineration, organic recovery or landfilling) of industrial and household waste. Operating primarily in France, Paprec has built a hard-to-replicate stronghold consisting of a dense industrial footprint of around 222 sites and bringing together around 12,500 employees.
Already a leader in the recycling segment, Paprec aims to become number 1 in waste management in France through both organic development and through mergers and acquisitions. Paprec also aims to develop in other European countries, where it will be able to replicate its successful strategy developed in France.
This transaction strengthens and complements Vauban’s investment footprint in the energy transition infrastructure sector. This is Vauban’s first investment in a waste management infrastructure company, key to the development of the circular economy. Vauban’s long-term investment approach has been key to the company’s long-term development goals, as well as the team’s partnership approach with management.
